eStem parents,

I want to give you an update since our message to you last Thursday regarding the COVID-19 virus. As you may know, Arkansas confirmed its first case of the virus on Wednesday, March 11 in Pine Bluff.

I have been in touch with representatives from the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Education this morning. Please understand that our state health organization is the lead authority regarding issues related to COVID-19, and we will follow their guidance in making any decisions.

The safety of our students and staff is paramount, and we will remain vigilant in maintaining a safe school environment. Our janitorial staff are increasing efforts to sterilize high-touch point areas within all of our facilities (e.g. doorknobs, water fountains, stall latches, etc.). We are also reviewing our school calendars to identify voluntary, large group activities that may be delayed until we can better determine the impact of this virus.

We are looking into any potential instances of indirect contact/exposure to the virus among our students and staff. It is critical that you report any suspected cases or confirmed diagnoses of this virus directly to me at 501-324-9202. To remain safe and healthy, I encourage you to review and follow guidance issued by official sources of public health information, such as the CDC.  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/protect/index.html

I will keep you updated as we get more information.

Respectfully,
