Nurse Responsibilities:

The eStem nurse's role includes (but is not limited to):

  • Maintaining, and ensuring the confidentiality of, complete up-to-date student health records
  • Planning and conducting health screenings, health appraisals, and health surveys
  • Planning and implementing school health management protocols for children with chronic health problems
  • Administering medication to students in accordance with physicians’ orders
  • Providing emergency care in case of sudden illness and administer first aid in case of injury to students or staff
  • Notifying appropriate personnel immediately of any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances
  • Participating as a health specialist on the Response to Intervention (RTI)team or Wellness Committee as needed
  • Building trust and community via clear and timely communication with students and families
  • Acting upon a commitment to do “whatever it takes” to ensure each student has a positive and safe school experience every day
  • Working to ensure that parents are taken care of by listening to their concerns and acting on them to build a partnership that demonstrates our passion and efforts to have their child’s/children’s best interests at heart
  • Demonstrating Social/Emotional Intelligence or the willingness to improve and learn
  • Other duties as assigned

What you should have...

  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Valid RN license Required
  • Knowledge of childhood growth and development, community and family dynamics, current health issues and wellness education
  • Knowledge of current county and state health regulation and legislation
  • Knowledge of community health and social service agencies
  • Ability to make independent clinical decisions and judgments
