Director of School Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director (principal) is responsible for setting a powerful vision for student achievement and motivating others to follow that vision. Additionally, the Director is tasked with strategically implementing the school’s mission through effective leadership and management of the school’s students and staff, resulting in an instructional environment that prepares every student for success in college and in life. Directors are ultimately responsible for the academic and cultural outcomes of the students in their assigned schools.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing school-wide systems and routines and ensure that grade levels have systems in place
  • Working closely with the facilitators of curriculum and assessment to ensure high quality instructional resources are in place so that schools are able to meet their academic goals
  • Working with curriculum facilitators to plan appropriate professional development in the areas of curriculum, culture, and compliance
  • Holding staff to academic, professional, ethical values and other performance standards
  • Supporting and managing staff with the eStem mission, beliefs, values, and priorities
  • Guiding administrative team to develop Deans, Assistant Principals and other leadership faculty
  • Engaging administrative team in quarterly academic program analysis
  • Clearly articulating plans for daily operations and implementation of student services, including support services, discipline management, and crisis intervention
  • Participating in any major behavioral meetings
  • Supporting teachers and administrative team through the process of TESS and LEADS evaluations in EdReflect
  • With support of the Charter Management Office (CMO), working with administrative team to create and implement a comprehensive and fiscally sustainable annual operating budget to ensure adherence to the Board-approved final budget as well as an ongoing commitment to a culture of strong fiscal management
  • Interpreting policy, procedures and data
  • Communicating effectively (verbal and written)

Assistant Director of School Responsibilities

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The job of the Assistant Director is to provide support to the Director through specific responsibility for leading assigned programs and services by providing information and serving as a resource to others. Additionally, the Assistant Director supports the Director by supervising assigned staff and helping to guide the academic and cultural outcomes of the students in the school.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Director in the academic and cultural outcomes of the students
  • Assisting the Director in establishing school-wide systems and routines and ensuring that grade levels have systems in place
  • Working closely with the Director and facilitators of curriculum and assessment to ensure high quality instructional resources are in place so that schools are able to meet their academic goals
  • Assisting the Director to hold staff to academic, professional, ethical values and other performance standards
  • Collaborating with Director to implement parental involvement plan
  • Working with the Director to lead school-wide culture building as necessary
  • Providing instructional planning feedback to teachers
  • Modelling impromptu culture building and uphold school-wide expectations
  • Working with the School Director and central office to ensure excellence in areas of operation (i.e. facility maintenance; procedures and policies)
  • Collaborating with the School Director to manage after-school and extra-curricular activities.
  • Observing teachers using the TESS model and providing meaningful feedback on instruction through EdReflect and personal meetings
  • Holding teachers accountable to professional work expectations
  • Interpreting policy, procedures and data
  • Communicating effectively (verbal and written) with teachers, campus leadership, students, and parents
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Dean of Students Responsibilities

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Dean of Students is charged with supporting a school culture that empowers students to develop the knowledge, skills, and character traits necessary to pursue a college education and life of value, joy, and integrity. The Dean of Students will focus on maximizing school-wide academic growth and character development. A job well done here will leave teachers feeling well supported in their daily work and will allow the School Director to focus on only the most critical aspects of school leadership. The Dean of Students will work with the School Director to support eStem Public Charter Schools' mission and culture of achievement. We are committed to schools that are equitable, diverse, and create a sense of belonging.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Adhering to and enforcing board policy, school guidelines, administrative directives, and district standards
  • Enforcing guidelines to maintain proper discipline and conduct
  • Assisting in the development and administration of policies dealing with discipline, conduct, and attendance
  • Communicating relevant policies and procedures regarding student discipline, conduct, and attendance with students, staff, and parents
  • Working with and assisting faculty in the development of effective classroom discipline and organization
  • Maintaining an effective and safe school environment
  • Assisting the Director with fire, storm and tornado drills on a regular basis and  implementing emergency evacuations and lock-downs effectively
  • Preparing required reports and paperwork such as discipline reports, suspension reports, injury reports, parent communications, and other paperwork as assigned
  • Working with the Director to develop student handbook policies regarding discipline and campus policies
  • Supervising and evaluating staff as assigned
  • Assisting in student supervision during special events
  • Assisting in the care and management of the building and grounds, furniture, equipment, apparatus, books, and supplies
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director

K-6, 7-9, and High School Curriculum Facilitator Responsibilities

About the Position

The Curriculum Facilitators will work closely with the Lead Facilitator and Leadership Team to provide curricular and instructional leadership in the development, implementation, coordination, and assessment of the academic program to improve student achievement and meet student, school, and regional goals. In particular, the Curriculum Facilitators will be responsible for enhancing our approach to common core rigorous instruction. They will also provide direct support to the teachers and the Leadership Team through coaching and training.

The Curriculum Facilitator role includes (but is not limited to):

  • Serving as resident expert by holding a deep knowledge of content, standards, instructional materials and resources
  • Meeting with grade level or content specific teams weekly to plan and facilitate the delivery of instruction
  • Conducting teacher observations and providing feedback
  • Working with teachers to maintain and update the curriculum in ItsLearning (our curriculum data base)
  • Consulting with school leadership to support school decisions regarding intervention programs and strategies for struggling students
  • Participate in the ACSIP Leadership Meetings/Process
  • Assessment and Data Analysis
  • Partner with teachers to implement assessments aligned with the Common Core State Standards and the ACT Aspire
  • Support/train the teachers and administrative team on analysis of assessments to inform instruction
  • Monitor curriculum-based assessments to assess quality of implementation
  • With team, determine best practices in analyzing student assessment and instructional practice data to inform planning and strategic support
  • Coaching and Professional Development
  • Plan and lead professional development for teachers on best practices in teaching and learning, including the use of formative assessments and other data to inform instruction
  • Coach teachers and leaders in the use of research-based instructional strategies and best practices
  • Provide regular feedback to school leadership based on observations of classroom instruction, and school-based professional development
