EJHS Directors Notes (March 16)

eStem Junior High Community,

Our students did well this week! The focus was on learning and discipline referrals were minimal.  Next week is spring break, so students will not report to school again until Monday, March 26.  I hope everyone has a relaxing and restful break!

We raised over $2,000 for C.O.T.A., and I am SO proud of our students’ enthusiasm and generosity!  You can use THIS LINK to learn more about our efforts.  The class that donated the most money was 8th grade, so they will be allowed to dress out of uniform our first week back from break: March 26 – March 30.  Since our entire student body was so amazing, EVERYBODY will get an extra free dress day on Thursday, May 29.

The 2018-2019 calendar is attached to this email.  We ask that families attempt to schedule vacations and other recreational activities during summer, fall break, Thanksgiving break, winter break, or spring break.  If you would like to request extended absences during scheduled school days, please email me directly (jarrod.dupriest@estemschools.org).

Important information regarding Returning Student Registration has been sent via email. The deadline for Returning Student Registration is Friday, March 30.  If you have not received this email or have questions about the registration process, please contact our Registrar: allyson.peterson@estemschools.org.

Varsity cheer tryouts will be held on Thursday, April 19. There will be a cheer clinic from April 16-18.  Please see the attachments for more information regarding requirements, times, and locations.

It's time for our second annual Jog-A-Thon! This is a K-9 event sponsored by our parent volunteer organization, the eTeam.  Jog-A-Thon is a fundraiser to raise money that goes directly back to our students and classrooms.  The JHS will take place in Jog-A-Thon on Friday, March 30, and our schedule for that day is attached.  For more information, including volunteer opportunities, please see the email titled “Jog-A-Thon Time!!!” that was sent at 4:10 on Thursday, March 8.  If Nurse Lay holds an inhaler for your child, it will need to be picked up BEFORE walking to Jog-A-Thon next Friday.

If your child is in 9th grade and taking AP classes next year at eStem High School, check out the attachment about an AP Prep Boot Camp. AR AIMS is pleased to invite your AP student to join the 2018 AR AIMS AP PREP Boot Camp this summer on the UA-Fayetteville campus.  Master teachers from across Arkansas will ensure that students are ready for their 2018-19 AP course.  This amazing opportunity is FREE to your students, courteous of the Walton Family Foundation and Rockefeller Foundation.

Would you be interested in your child participating in an educational tour of the British Isles during spring break 2019?  If so, Mr. Hiblong will be holding an interest meeting for this trip at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 29.

UALR is organizing a STEM Leadership Conference for girls on April 13th and a Day at the Museum for girls interested in STEM learning on May 14.  As we continue to plan details, we will share more information.   For now, we just wanted to give the parents of our 7th and 8th grade girls some dates to consider.

Please make sure you are checking Home Access Center (HAC) on a regular basis.  If you have any questions about the grades you see in HAC, make sure to contact your child(s) teacher ASAP.

·         All students who purchase a lunch will need to have money on their lunch account.  Money can be loaded onto lunch accounts at www.myschoolbucks.com

·         HAC (Home Access Center) can be used to access students grades and attendance records.  You can use the following link and the username/password in your child’s open house packet to access HAC: https://hac31.eschoolplus.k12.ar.us/HomeAccess

·         If your child will be absent, please make sure to email JHSattendance@estemschools.org to let us know!

·         If you have an address, email, or phone number change, please send those changes to Mrs. Peterson: allyson.peterson@estemschools.org
